Jared Farmer’s e-book, “Mormons in the Media,” Available Online

Jared Farmer, an associate professor in the Department of History, has a new e-book, Mormons in the Media, about Mormons and Mormonism in U.S. politics, from Joseph Smith to Mitt Romney.

The collection of images includes magazine illustrations, book covers, photographs, political cartoons, movie posters, film stills, sheet music, broadsides, advertisements, postcards, websites and other ephemera. Mormons in the Media also features a preface, fact sheet, list of suggested readings and bibliographic citations.

Farmer’s book On Zion’s Mount: Mormons, Indians, and the American Landscape (Harvard, 2008) won the 2009 Francis Parkman Prize by The Society of American Historians. His research interests include ecological history, science and society, environmental policy, landscape studies, cultural geography and historical geography, U.S. cultural and religious history, and history of the North American West.
