December 17 at 1:30pm: Cheers for the Home Team, Long Island Ducks Visit Stony Brook Children’s Hospital for the Holidays

The Long Island Ducks are sure to make a big hit with patients at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital during a special visit this holiday season. Former New York Met Bud Harrelson, co-owner and Senior VP of Baseball Operations of the Ducks will be joined by mascot Quaker Jack and other team members to spread holiday cheer around the hallways of the pediatric units at Stony Brook Children’s. Bearing toys and gifts, signing autographs and sharing photo ops, this visit from the Ducks is guaranteed to be a homerun all around.  

December 18 at 2pm: New York Islanders Spread Holiday Cheer with Visit to Kids at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital

Stony Brook Children’s Hospital will receive a special holiday visit from National Hockey League players from the NY Islanders. Taking a break from the ice, Forward Eric Boulton (#36), Defensemen Lubomir Visnovsky (#11) and Radek Martinek (#4) with Goalie Kevin Poulin (#60) will spread some holiday cheer around the pediatric units. Leaving their skates and sticks at the rink, the players will come bearing toys and gifts, signing autographs and sharing photo ops with some of Long Island’s smallest fans. 


WHY: Established in June 2010, Stony Brook Children's Hospital is Suffolk County’s only children’s hospital. More than 7,000 children and adolescents are admitted each year. Stony Brook Children’s operates 100 pediatric beds and has more than 140 full-time pediatric physicians and surgeons in 30 different specialties and over 200 voluntary pediatric faculty members. The hospital is the Level 4 Regional Perinatal Center for our area and has a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is home to the nation’s first Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Center and also offers a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program, Pediatric Cardiology Program, Pediatric HIV and AIDS Center, Cystic Fibrosis Center and the Cody Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities. DIRECTIONS: LIE to Exit 62. North on Nicolls Road 8.5 miles. Cross over Route 347 and make a right at South Entrance onto the Stony Brook Medicine campus; drive to the second light, and make a left into the hospital driveway and into parking lot.
