MEDIA ADVISORY FOR WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23RD

PINK HAIR ISN’T JUST FOR ROCK STARS
STONY BROOK MEDICINE GOES PINK FOR OCTOBER
From faculty, staff and students, everyone will get a little glam to show support for breast cancer awareness month with pink hair extensions

Photo opportunities will be available on level 5 of the Hospital in front of the cafeteria

From jeans, nails and lip gloss, celebrities like Emma Stone, Blake Lively and Courteney Cox are putting their pink items out on display in support of breast cancer awareness month. But you don’t have to be famous to show yours!

Faculty, staff, students, patients and guests will get the opportunity show off their ‘rocker side’ and “Go Pink for a Cure” with pink hair. Bright pink extensions will be snapped into place by professional hair stylists from around the Stony Brook area.
Stony Brook University Cancer Center is offering numerous opportunities for patients, families and the community to come together during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This October events will honor survivors and patients, raise funds, and help raise awareness about cancer prevention, treatment and research at Stony Brook.

Each lock of pink hair costs $10. All fundraising efforts will benefit the Stony Brook Foundation which funds oncology patient resources and amenities such as support programs, educational programs, physical activities and wigs.
