PATIENT WHO NEARLY SEVERED HANDS ON MAY 16TH AND THE DOCTORS WHO ATTACHED THEM WILL ADDRESS THE MEDIA AT STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL ON WEDNESDAY

Kenneth Klapak, 53, patient with both hands reattached after near amputation (Ken’s wife Kim and his son Brian will be by his side)

WHAT:
Kenneth Klapak, a 53-year-old sheet metal mechanic and guitar player whose hands were nearly severed during an accident on May 16 will share his story alongside the Stony Brook surgical team that worked to attach both hands.

DIRECTIONS:
LIE to Exit 62. North on Nicolls Road 8.5 miles. Cross over Route 347 and make a right at South Entrance onto the Stony Brook Medicine campus; drive to the second light, and make a left into the hospital driveway and into parking lot. Enter through hospital lobby and take a left after the Gift Shop to get to the hospital lobby conference room. TV trucks can park on curb on South side of hospital driveway; all others will have parking validated by media relations representative.
