Stony Brook’s Online Graduate Education Program Moves Up in ‘USNews & World Report’ Ranking
Online graduate programs in Nursing and Business also in the Top 100
STONY BROOK, NY, January 15, 2014 - Stony Brook University’s online graduate program in Education has been rated #22 out of 166 programs in the 2014 U.S.News & World Report’s Top 100 Best Online Programs rankings.
According to the U.S.News & World Report, the jump in ranking for the Online Graduate Education Program was due to a significantly higher ranking in student services and technology, as well as improvement in faculty credentials and training. Student engagement remained at the same high level as in 2013 (#25), but increased weighting improved the program’s overall score.
"I am very pleased that US News & World Report has recognized Stony Brook and the School of Professional Education with its #22 ranking nationwide among online schools of education,” said Thomas R. Sexton, Ph.D., Interim Dean, School of Professional Development. “At the SPD, we began offering online courses over 17 years ago and we are constantly striving to improve our educational offerings for teachers and other education leaders."
Highlights of the 2014 Best Online Programs rankings will be included in the U.S.News “Best Graduate Schools 2015” and the “Best Colleges 2015” guidebooks.
